Research and Studies

We are often get contacted by researchers or student researchers with surveys related to PAS.  Here is one that many of you might be interested in participating in.  The more we can quantify and qualify things related to alienation, the more we can affect change worldwide.  This information will help us to prove that any form of alienation, whether in a custody battle, or by a relative or an agency, is psychological abuse.  The bond between parent and child is a very strong one, even when it is interrupted.   At some point, the loss of this relationship will show it’s affects on the child.  The child will either seek out the parent or will hopefully seek out mental health support.  And the more information we can get to them and out there, the better chance we have of creating proper intervention and healing of the fractured relationships.
Warmest regards,
Joani

NEW RESEARCH PROJECT FOR PARENTS AND ADULT ALIENATED CHILDREN
 BY
MICHAELA D. MULLIS

FROM: Michaela D. Mullis
I am asking for your help in recruiting for my dissertation research on parental alienation and reconnection. I am in need of alienated parents and/or adult children who have experienced parental alienation after divorce and have since reconnected in some form or other to participate in a phone interview.

Participants will be asked to fill out a turning point graph of their parent-child relationship. Interviews can be conducted over the phone and will last about 1-2 hours.

To participate, you must be…
    -18 years or older
-A biological or legal parent who was estranged from their child due to parental alienation during or after divorce
-OR an adult child aged 18+ who was estranged from their parent due to parental alienation during or after divorce
-Have reconnected or are reconnecting with your estranged parent or adult child (18+)

**please note: to participate parents must have reconnected with a child who is now 18 or older

If you are interested in participating, please complete the short survey below, or if you are a professional in this field, please consider sharing my study information and survey link with eligible clients.

If eligible, you can provide contact information at the end of the survey, and I will contact you to schedule a phone interview at your convenience. Please share this information with anyone you believe may qualify or be interested in participating.

All interview participants will receive a $10 Amazon egift card or a $10 donation to a charity.

This research should further our understanding of the alienated parent-child relationship trajectory in PA cases and highlight challenges faced in reconnecting. I greatly appreciate your time and willingness to participate or share this study.

Hello Ms. Kloth-Zanard,

I’m contacting you because you are an author who has written on parental alienation.

I'm a Masters student in Social Work and am doing a short online survey (15-20 minutes). I’m in need of qualified participants as soon as possible! I’m sincerely hoping that you can help me by participating in my survey or passing on the link to others you feel may qualify for my study. The purpose of my research study is to find how the experiences of parental alienation and ongoing estrangement from adult child(ren) affect targeted, non-custodial parents as they age. This study is the foundation for my Master’s Thesis.

To participate you must meet these criteria:

  1. Be age 55 or older
  2. Have been a non-custodial parent
  3. Have experienced parental alienation in the past
  4. Have at least one adult child who is now estranged from you

Your participation or non-participation is voluntary and confidential. You will not be asked to provide your name. Your participation will provide social workers with useful information in understanding the how these experiences affect healthy aging. The survey has been reviewed by the California State University Institutional Review Board.

If you would like to participate, please go to the following link:
